So many Christians stand by their denomination so hard core that they sound “religious”. Is this okay? What is religion? You see so many other cultures out there live on religion even if they are an Atheist. You see Atheists live religiously to live the life they want even though they say they do not believe in God or gods. You see religion can be a form of worldview you stand by. The difference is that religion is designed by mankind to have “standards”. God was not expecting you to follow the Ten Commandments. In fact the Ten Commandments was designed to show you the need for a Savior because in our own power we would not be able to Iive righteously.
God has been pursuing since before you were born. It is us who have forsaken Him in our own sin. God does not desire any of us to perish. In fact He sent His only son to die on behalf for us to give us hope and salvation. Humans, since the fall, have created their own view of God and their own design of religion. From the tower of Babel, languages were created, and then the stories of creation changed. Now religion is designed not to pursue God, but we designed it to pursue happiness, self glorification, and spiritual fulfillment based on what we think it should be. God’s heart saddens at the thought that His creation spends so much time running away from Him, hiding from Him (like Adam and Eve), or ignoring any truth from Him.
He loves you, He desires you to love Him back. He cannot force it from you, and guess what? This means it is a relationship not a religion. You see the church spends a lot of time trying to create a safe haven that they forget we need to impact. We can only impact if we are pursuing His will and who He is. Instead we worry about the outside appearance, if we carry a big bible, to look good when it counts, and run from those who do not fit our norm. We are to live dangerously (not literally) for Christ, by stepping outside our comfort zone to impact not criticize the world. You see if we are pursuing Him, living each day chasing after Him that we overflow with God’s love, mercy, and word coming from us that it impacts those around us. It must start with us falling in intimate love with God that all we can see is Him. Start running into His arms… He is waiting for you!
What does Worldview mean? Worldview is how you view the world: morality, beliefs, discernment, culture, and understanding of how you live. We often view our view based on how we are brought up or taught as we grow up. Our culture has changed a lot in the past 250 years since America was formed. We used to be a country based solely on God, His Word, and men who wanted to honor Him in everything they did. They fought to defend these rights, protect the freedom of government and citizenship, and the freedom to speak and worship as you may. America is not truly America anymore, and there are so many Worldviews that now that are mixed and match to fit how you think rather than following what God thinks. We live in a culture that lives based on opinions, discrimination, no absolute truth, morality based on the individual, and do not offend others even if you think it is wrong. As Christians we have become to soft in what we believe. Instead of standing against wrong (or sin) we rather fit so we are not defined as haters or discriminators. What should we do? Should we stand, should we love like Christ, or should hide and change?
I am all about changing to fit the culture, but not change to be like the world. We should create our Worldview based on Scripture. We should be taking the time to build a relationship with God by studying who we are… as a Christian. What does Christian mean? It means be like Christ or little Christ. Often you hear Christians say we are followers of Christ. This is part of our Worldview. We have chosen to Follow Christ and do what Scripture defines us to be. We are being bombarded by many different views and philosophies that define a view opposite a Christian one. The World wants you to follow your heart, but the Bible states it is desperately wicked. Many say the Old Testament is absolute, but Jesus came to fulfill it. What about current events? Pot legalized, homosexuality, divorce, marriage, defining discrimination, and much more that have been and currently being debated. As Christians where do we go? The Bible has answers based on truth… not based on exact words.
Then there are Christians who have decided to take some of the Bible that is “relevant” to today. That means that we need to fit the views of the world. So homosexuality is okay because we should not be condemning people for sin since we sin too. There is an issue in this thinking… God is the one who has condemned us to death. If we do not accept Jesus we die an eternal death. So if we do not share the gospel how will those who live a sexual sin know? That being said what is your Worldview?
Do you follow God completely or do you mix it up? Another view that many do in our culture is mix and match to fit their lifestyle. So if having sex on a daily basis is okay for me… you cannot tell me it is wrong because I do not believe the same way you do. Our culture is trying to get rid of accountability as Christians we need to stand by the Truth in Christ. We need to be willing to create a True Christian Worldview that stands alone. The only way to do so is to own your Christianity and know your God!
