12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[b] 2 Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[d] -Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
I have been pretty busy with a few things actually going on in my life currently. I have been working more on my books, administrating my guild more, helping at a Chinese Christian Church youth group, and I have my first Skype interview with a church near my birth town. It has been exciting that I have not been writing on her, but getting ready through prayer, talking with friends, searching for questions, and waiting for God to open the door. So I can use some prayer these next few days before the interview. Now back to my devotional…
You see up above I am using myself to worship Him by serving Him by serving in the youth group with Pastor K. As Christians we must relieve there are many ways for us to serve Him that turns into an act of worship. If we conform to this world we feed our sin nature. Remember, are we naturally good or evil? If we are naturally good than why do we need Jesus to die on the cross, and why do we have so many laws/rules in this world? Paul explains that we should not conform to this world, and then he also explains it is by the changing of our minds. Our culture lives in a world that is busy, and they rather live in the every day for themselves. We as Christians sometimes get dragged into the culture. Instead of seeking ways to be used by Him we rather fit in the world.
If we really allow God to be apart of our life whether it is work, school, our love life, our decision making, or every aspect of our lives. If we are building a relationship with God than He should be apart of our everyday living. Then we can know who and have discernment. The relationship with God will direct us to be used by Him, which will have us be a body that worship Him. You must be willing to build this relationship, and He will be able to use you for His will.
These last few years I have struggled a lot to find ways to be used by Him. I have had only 1 part time job, but I have applied to over 500 different jobs from ministry to local small business all over the US. I did not feel as if I could be used. While I had a part time job I asked Him to use me with those I worked with. During that time, my boss a Christian, lost his 12 year old son to Cancer. The store eventually closed, and many did not see hope for a new job or direction. God used me as a tool for Him even though I was not completely happy not finding a job in ministry yet. In the past God has always used me in each job. I learned at a young age that I can be used in any job even if it is not ideal in my eyes. You see God sees the big picture, we only see the present. If you are serious about God using you than He will use you no matter what.
We can be used in many ways if we allow God to use us. These ways are forms of worship. A husband who loves his wife by filling up her car, doing some choirs, telling her he loves her, and many more. How about a sister who helps her younger brother do the choirs around the house? Maybe buying lunch for a co-worker? How about raking the next store neighbor’s yard? Maybe go and volunteer at the local Humane Society? You see giving up of yourself to serve others, love others without reward, or share the gospel in action is ways to worship. Take a moment consider how much you have given to God. Worshiping Him goes far beyond singing.
