How many of you have been battling what it means to have faith? As Christians we have to walk in faith because life is an unknown. We do not know when we will die, get seriously ill, or lose someone we love. How about when you lose your job, get kicked from your apartment, get injured, or just fell stuck. It seems as if you have to face life alone. Even your friends and family cannot do something to help but pray. In my case, 3 years waiting for a job, and in the last couple years dealing with my wife’s health. Both are an unknown for us as a couple. Being in this situation has brought us closer, but it also has created a huge strain on our emotions, health, and mental state. It is a battle sometimes just to get up, but how can we strengthen our faith?
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. -Hebrew 11:1 (ESV)
So that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. -1Peter 1:7 (ESV)
Ultimately it is about trusting that God is in control no matter what happens. I know that is easier to say than do. I am completely certain is a mindset, prayer, worship (I listen to music), listening to Pastor sermons (I listen to pastors on radio/online), and seeking God to empower you to live each day to somehow honor Him, glorify His Will, and have the desire to serve Him. I am not saying that good things will happen or that there is a system if I do this… then God will do that… God is not wishing evil on you by any means, but He does allow you to go through situations to count on Him (Faith, Trust, and Promises). There is no list that you can do to change your situation. We are bound on consequence and corruption of the world do to sin. Sometimes the situation can get better, but as some have been through it can end sadly or unexpected. The question I need to ask you is where do you look towards? God, your own ability, or do you just give up? Trust me… there has been times where giving up seems to be better, but that is when God reminds me of His promises, the small blessings, and that I need to have faith that He is working things all around me even if I do not see something happening. Even when it is beyond hard to live, who do you count on?
