In our world there are so many different religions, beliefs, opinions, and humanistic truths that people hold to. Especially in our Postmodern world, many would rather take pieces of the different beliefs out there that best fits their form of belief foundation. Even some who call themselves Christians will say that believe some of the Bible, but not all. They base this on the numerous “re-writes” of the Bible. Really? Do you honestly believe that God (the one you serve) does not take care of His very words? No wonder it is easy to “create” your own version of beliefs. All we have to do is convince ourselves that all we need are the parts of the truth that fit our lives.
We do everything possible to justify our actions, and Christians can do the same thing toward the Bible. When conviction comes to our minds and hearts do we listen, or do we ignore it? What happens to those Christians? The best answer is they start to create separation from the relationship with God. They spend less time studying, going to church, other believers, and they indulge in their form of sin called pride. They can become very selfish, and hold on to their personal design of beliefs.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. -Col 2:8-10 (ESV)
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[b] 2 Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[d] Rom 12:1-2 (ESV)
It comes down to who you would rather follow God or the World? Satan and his followers have spent a lot in using our weakness of self glorification as the foundation of influence. He uses our fleshly desires to feed our sin nature. His influence on all the religions, philosophies, and human truths has made it intriguing to chase after. Even King Solomon shares his experience of chasing after the wind in his book Ecclesiastes. We need to spend time studying His word, prayer, and meeting with fellow believers to grow closer to God. We will build a foundation on the TRUTH, and not on the lies that so many follow. Humanism is the foundation of the World, what is your foundation?
